Along the way, discover the soul of southern China through its dramatic scenery, vibrant ethnic cultures, and unforgettable outdoor experiences. This is not just a tour — it’s a poetic escape into nature’s masterpiece.

[Day 1 – Day 4] Zhangjiajie : Into the Clouds and Beyond

Explore the magical landscapes of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, the soaring peaks that inspired Avatar, and experience thrilling glass skywalks atop Tianmen Mountain. Walk peaceful forest streams, visit limestone caves, and immerse yourself in the vibrant Tujia culture.

Day 1: Arrival and Welcome to the South
Arrive in Zhangjiajie and meet your Adventure Leader and group. Settle into your hotel, then enjoy a welcome dinner featuring bold Hunan cuisine. If time permits, stroll local markets or relax in a tea house.

Day 2: Avatar Mountains Await
Explore the UNESCO-listed Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. Take the Bailong Elevator up cliffs to Yuanjiajie and walk the pathways through towering sandstone pillars on Tianzi Mountain, enveloped in mist and cloud.

Day 3: Streams, Cliffs & Skywalks
Hike the serene Golden Whip Stream trail, surrounded by pristine forest and canyon walls. In the afternoon, ascend Tianmen Mountain via the world’s longest cable car. Experience the glass skywalk and marvel at the natural Tianmen Cave, known as “Heaven’s Gate.”

Day 4: Caves, Lakes & Tujia Traditions
Choose to visit either the stunning Huanglong Cave or take a boat on Baofeng Lake. In the afternoon, explore Dayong Ancient Town or the Tujia Folk Custom Park, learning about minority customs and architecture.

[Day 5 – Day 6] Fenghuang : Timeless Water Town

Wander ancient cobblestone streets and stilted houses by the Tuo River. Soak in the lantern-lit charm of Fenghuang’s nightscape, and dive deep into the traditions of the Miao and Tujia peoples.

Day 5: Arrival and Riverside Charm
Travel by private coach to Fenghuang. Enjoy a sunset boat ride along the Tuo River, followed by a guided walk through the lantern-lit streets of this timeless town.

Day 6: Culture & Craft in Ancient Alleys
Visit Shen Congwen’s former home, the Yang Family Ancestral Hall, and the Miao Ethnic Museum. Discover local handicrafts, and optionally visit a nearby Miao village to experience authentic minority life.

[Day 7 – Day 8] Guilin : Karst Wonders and City Lights

Discover Guilin’s iconic karst formations and caves. Experience the vibrant old town and a scenic nighttime cruise highlighting the city’s glowing water features.

Day 7: Iconic Peaks and City Vibes
Drive to Guilin. Visit Elephant Trunk Hill and explore Zhengyang Pedestrian Street, enjoying local delicacies and shopping.

Day 8: Caverns and Waterways
Explore Reed Flute or Seven Star Cave’s illuminated formations. Evening cruise on Two Rivers Four Lakes reveals a magical water-and-light show.

[Day 9 – Day 10] Li River to Yangshuo : A Floating Painting

Sail the legendary Li River, admiring landscapes that have inspired artists for centuries. Explore Yangshuo’s lively West Street.

Day 9: Scenic Cruise to Yangshuo
Relax on a river cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo, passing sights like Nine Horse Fresco Hill and Yellow Cloth Reflection.

Day 10: Cycling the Ten-Mile Gallery
Cycle or e-bike along the peaceful Ten-Mile Gallery countryside, stopping at Moon Hill and Big Banyan Tree.

[Day 11 – Day 13] Yangshuo : Rivers, Mountains

Experience bamboo rafting, majestic live performances, and optional adventures in caves or rural retreats.

Day 11: Bamboo Rafting and Evening Performance
Drift on a bamboo raft along the Yulong River. In the evening, watch Impression Liu Sanjie, a spectacular outdoor show blending music, dance, and natural scenery.

Day 12: Choose Your Adventure
Optional trips to Silver Cave or Shiwai Taoyuan village, or relax with a countryside walk, photography, or spa.

Day 13: Farewell to South China
Transfer to Guilin for your departure, carrying memories of stone forests, silver streams, and timeless culture.

Booking Deposit

A small deposit of just 10% per person confirms your booking and secures your hotels, tickets, and private transport. The remaining balance is paid upon your arrival in China.

Passport & Visa

A visa is required for travel to mainland China. We recommend applying at least two months in advance.

Ages 14–70 must apply in person at a Visa Application Center.

Ages 13 and under / 71 and over can apply online.
We’ll provide you with the necessary documents and guidance to make the process smooth and easy.

Transportation

Comfortable private cars are arranged within cities. For intercity travel, we use China’s efficient high-speed trains or domestic flights. Please note: lighters and aerosols are not allowed on trains or planes.

Money & Payment

The local currency is the Renminbi (RMB / CNY / Yuan). We suggest exchanging money before departure. US dollars are also commonly accepted. Credit cards work in most hotels and malls, but small shops may only accept cash. ATMs are widely available.
Hotels may require a credit card or cash deposit upon check-in.

Arrival & Meet-Up

You’ll be warmly greeted by your local guide upon arrival. Throughout your trip, a knowledgeable local guide will accompany you in each city to offer expert insight and support.

Accommodation

We handpick hotels for comfort, location, and character—typically at a 4-star standard. Ratings may differ from international norms, but we inspect all our partner properties regularly to ensure quality. All rooms come with private bathrooms.

Meals & Drinks

Breakfast is always western style and served in the hotel each morning. Dinner (when included) will be taken in local restaurants or at the hotel. A variety of restaurants are visited giving you the chance to experience a range of dishes and flavours. Unlike the western world, Chinese people do not normally pre-heat their plates and food can be presented at a variety of temperatures, which is a typical Chinese way of doing things.

It is not recommended to drink the tap water, even in developed countries water may contain unfamiliar elements that can cause upset stomachs. In less developed countries water is not filtered in the same way. Bottled water will be available at shops and hotels.

Holidays & Festivals

If your visit falls during a major Chinese holiday, such as Chinese New Year (Jan–Feb) or Golden Week (May 1–3 & Oct 1–7), note that transportation may be busier and attractions more crowded. Shops may close temporarily, but scenic sites remain open.
